Oh, the rose-breasted 'toos are just so gorgeous, are they not??

THANK YOU, everyone, for your recommendations. A special TY to Graehstone for sharing a list complete w/ ISBN How did you know that I was once a bookseller?

I'll definitely be checking out auctions on eBay and used books on Amazon -- I've gotten some great deals from both in the past.

And here's a question in case anyone is still lurking about this thread...

Years ago my mother bought me a book about 2 budgies (I think); it was a novel of sorts. I'm not sure if it was based on a true story. I just remember it being a really sweet story about the relationship between the owners and the birds... Mum probably gave me the book about 20 years ago. I can't recall the title, author or much of the story, too be honest. Thought that I'd ask in case this jogs anyone's memory.

Again -- THANK YOU!

I just finished reading Parrots for Dummies......BEST-BOOK-EVER!!!

I just read it for pleasure! It really did keep me interested the WHOLE time! If you have not read it yet, please go out, get a copy, and do so! Even if you think you know everything about parrots, you're bound to find it fascinating!

Anyone read Spix's Macaw: The Race to Save the World's Rarest Bird yet? (http://www.amazon.com/Spixs-Macaw-Ra...e=UTF8&s=books)

This is my next read

Missi - I had rec'd a coupon from Petsmart the other day and used it to buy Parrots for Dummies. I like Nikki Moustaki's writing style - I have her 2 books on lovebirds and "Your Outta Control Bird" as well. Really good book! I'd recommend her Parrots for Dummies and Athan's The Companion Parrot Handbook for anyone with parrots but especially someone just starting to research them. Concise and to the point

The Spix Macaw book you mentioned was PHENOMENAL. I'm a big-time nerd and love to read. I honestly stayed up all night reading it... I can't say that it's an *exciting* book; I just found it very interesting and captivating.

I'm going to start African Parrots by Rick Jordan and Jean Pattison tonight :)
