No, little Dovey just started having what appeared to be seizures with nothing ahead of time pointing to a problem. My avian vet ran some tests and came to the tentative conclusion that he probably had an infection in his brain that was causing neurological problems. Although he was getting the best care possible, he didn't pull through. When you think of a little guy weighing only 44 grams under the healthiest of circumstances, there just isn't much reserve to work with. The necropsy didn't turn up anything definitive and the rest of my fids have continued to thrive.

It sounds as though your vet suspects metal poisoning rather than infection as the culprit. In any event, I pray that God's peace will gather you in and comfort you as you go through this time.

I am so sorry to hear about what happened to Pedro. I remember when you first posted about his beak not looking right to you. You were obviously very vigilent to have noticed this. You did the right thing and took him to the vet the very next day. You followed up with medicating him as the vet instructed. I hope the knowledge that you did all that you could for little Pedro will be of some comfort to you. May your heart heal with all due speed. And again, my condolences to you and your husband.
