Halloween fun for everyone

It is a gorgeous day here today with temperatures in the high 60s. (hey it feels warm after the past few weeks of cold rain!) The children in the area go trick-or-treating tonight because on actual Halloween each year there is a huge parade that everyone goes to.

I have the windows open through the house to get some fresh air in. Scarlett sees and hears all of the people walking up to the house, down the street, etc. She is having the time of her life whistling, chirping, and talking to them. If I get an angry parent here banging down the door for wolf-whistling at their kid, she is going to be in trouble!

Felisdomesticus,

Where are you from? It was a beautiful day her and I'm in NYC. Halloween is my favorite holiday and I am awesomely jealous that you get to celebrate two days, one for trick-or-treating and the other so everyone can go to the parade. It sounds like you really enjoyed the day. Hope you have just as much fun at the parade. Sounds like Scarlett likes it, too.

Enjoy!!

It was also very nice outside here! Although I hate the time change. It was nice getting an extra hour of sleep, but the afternoon just draaaaagged on, and I dont like that its already dark outside!

Holloween trick or treating with B&G

We took Blu, our B&G and our dog trick or treating on Holloween. They loved it. The first house we stopped at gave our dog a bone and Blu a carrot. We tied Blu's travel cage to a large wagon and off we went. The wheather was great, we live in the deep south, and we had fun. The more things you do with your bird, the less scared he becomes about all other aspects of life and living with you.

Elizabeth:

I have a feeling that living in your house is a lot of fun. Its wonderful how you "get it" about including your bird in your family fun. Many folks don't. They keep them locked up in their homes afraid to let them explore the world.

I have taken just about every one of my birds on short trips to run errands, to the park, to the post office, whereever my day may lead me. Consequently, all of my guys are very used to strangers and even look forward to the car rides. Not all of my birds are especially user friendly (Dreamie, my BG, gets a bit over stimulated and he just can't seem to sit still for the car ride). However, they all love the adventure.

Scarlett has not had a whole heck of a lot of excitement and adventure in her life thus far but I have to say that I am amazed at how calm she is in the car. I use a clean cat carrier for her with a towel on the bottom. We usually are just going 5-10 minutes away. She talks to us, whistles, and generally is totally fine with the whole experience.
