Time of year..........
This time of year has some good and bad memories that linger year after year. Those of you that have loved and lost a precious feathered companion, know what time of year triggers the memories you are forced to confront.
3 years ago this time, I spent many weeks traveling in and out of NYC with my african grey who I loved more like a child then a pet. He was my world. After 7 weeks and more surgeries then can be counted, my boy lost his battle with Aspergillosis. I lost alot that December evening. I could not eat, I could not sleep, I did not work, I was in debt beyond imagination. I was severly depressed, and could not really funtion with day to day life. Little did I know that somewhere up in New York State,a thousand miles away, 3 years ago today that some little bald baby bird was peeping his way out of his egg. I'm sure he needed help that day, for he always needs help. after loosing my Sampson, my boyfriend, turned Fiancee that Christmas day, drove me up to see this little bird as he was the last one in the clutch that needed a home. I rolled my pennies, nickles and dimes, as a down payment, if needed. Needless to say, that little bird needed a home, and I needed a baby to love and help heal my pain. Sydney Bell, named after his late Brother Sampson Bell, remained at his birth mothers house untill he was weaned. Then he came home with me to start our life's journey together. And while life doesnt often go the way we hope or plan, life has a way of working itself out and we somehow get what we need. Today my baby boy turns 3. Happy Birthday Sydney Bell.

As someone who just recently lost a bird myself, I truly appreciate you posting this. Makes me think there is a little bird out there being weaned right now that will help heal my heart too.
Happy Birthday to your baby!! Stasia |

Lisa:
That was really a beautiful story. I know you'll never really get over the loss of Sampson, but Sydney is doing his very best to walk with you on your journey.

Sampson will always be with you in your memories and in your heart
. I have had my share of heartaches and though we never forget we move on and forward, you have done that with Sydney. Happy Birthday and may he and you both share many more.
