I get my new baby boy on Friday

hello, I do not know if I have told you guys that I am getting an alexandrine. After thinking about what breed I might get, I tossed around between a sulfer crested 'too again or a rose breasted 'too again or a major mitchell or a male ekkie (already have a female and decided I was not ready to lose her to hormones yet), or an alexandrine or even a princess parrot. Well I found a breeder about 2 hours south of my place who breeds alex's and ekkies (no I am not getting both ) and he dna's his birds too (obviously not the ekkies). He just got the certificates back for this lot and he has a little girl and boy. I am going to pick him up on Friday. I had originally said I would have one from the younger batch which would be ready by xmas.................but this one is a boy and they might not be (that is my excuse to my hubby anyway ).

Just thought I would tell you guys. Will post pics when I get him. I really hope skye at least tolerates him. The will not be house together, they will have their own cages, but it would be nice and make life easier if they could at least travel in the same big new travel cage I bought.

They look like an Indian Ringneck only bigger. The males have a beautiful black/maroon (I think that is the colour) ring around their neck when they mature, so unless they have been sexed (and mine has been dna'd) you cannot tell them apart when juveniles. He is green with a red/orange beak and they get a maroon patch on the top of their wings. When mature they have a very long tail. I have a picture of him I will try to send it.

The first two are of my son's female alexandrine. she is now about 14 months old and still no sign of a ring and she is small, so we figure she is a she. Her name is "Shrek". The one with 2 little ones in a cage is mine and his sister at about 9 weeks old. The pic looks a bit bright from the flash - I have not seen him yet just some photo's. When fully grown I expect he will be a bit smaller than my ekkie but with a much longer tail.
