I used to dehydrate fruits, veggies and even meats. Here's the deal:if given the choice, my birds prefer fresh fruits and veggies and will pass on the dehydrated ones. Its a lot of work and you get very little once the water is gone. If you have a garden or have lots of fresh produce that you have to deal quickly with, its a great way to go. However, if you're purchasing stuff for the grocery store, I think you'll be dissapointed. It takes a lot of apples, for example, to create one pount of dried fruit. Probably 10 pounds of apples.
For working folks who cannot remove fresh foods from cages in a 2 hour period, dried is of course the preferred way to go due to bacteria build up.
