frozen amazon

Wondering if anyone else has this happen with their parrots. I have a blue-fronted amazon, and she's recently started doing the strangest thing. I take her out of her cage and put her on her perch. The perch is on a silver tray, and when it's clean, like a mirror. She seems to (this is my theory, at least) catch sight of herself below her, and completely freezes, often in what looks like the most uncomfortable position. She will stay in the same position for literally half an hour, not even screaming or whistling when I'm out of sight, as is usually the case.

It is truly the oddest thing to see her looking like a stuffed bird sitting on this perch.

She might be freaking out , thinking that she is seeing the underside of a predator comming for her.

I think I have that same stand. I usually get several layers of newpaper and fold them in quarters. I cut a 1 inch hole in the corner crease and then I open them up. The hole should be in the center of the papers.

I unscrew the yoke that the perch sits on and center the hole in the papers. I then reset the yoke.

You can take a pair of scissors and just cut around the tray. Makes cleanup a breeze and it won't freak out your amazon.
