I too am getting a conure in less than a week. I can't wait! (S)he will be my first bird. I'm looking into mabey a sun, jenday, or cherry headed; although, they are all beautiful. I'm so excited!

Oh I would absolutely LOVE a sun...but they are too loud for my parents

i havent gotten the chance to meet a duskey up close before so i dont know much about them. But i love an kind of conure.my mom is a bird person. but my dad is not.
 once my mom makes up her mind no one can change it. my dad will just have to deal with it.

I'm quite fond of the pyrrhura conures -- they seem so lively! I've only ever seen the black-capped conures in photos but oh, they are pretty! I've seen and handled a few green-cheeks and think they are wonderful.

Hi,
You could even trying to find local avian rescues in your area. They sometimes get birdss in that the only reason they are there is that the owner moved or could not care for them any longer, and would most likely not have any deep issues to deal with. Good luck though. Darian

I have a dusky! Hes not very loud!,hes my angel, hes so funny and playful and rollly polly! I finished his handfeedings, hes such doll, he lives with Rainbow my green cheek, and loves both of us to death. Hes a little character. He likes to sit in empty tissue boxes and squeak and roll around and chew. He also screams at bells....tey get him all worked up and hes starts eeeeking...its hilarious! I cant say enough good things about him...

well----no parrot is quiet all the time----so please don't get one species thinking that they are "quieter"......expect the best but prepare for the worst!
My birds are so loud I think I'm going deaf at times---but birds make noise, birds make a mess and birds require time and attention...... Good Luck w/your decision.
