Exclamation Please help

ok, heres the deal. my parakeet angel is twitching to her left side when she does so she kinda squeeks or chirps her right leg is also twitching violently, she cannot perch. i have checked various websites and it looks like a stroke

unfortunately, it is too late at night to get a vet around here nor do we have the money to do so (we just had to take care of my cat he had a pretty large abcess that ruptured) i have my ill bird in a square, pink bucket (more of a tub rly) about 5-6 inches high with rags at the bottom for comfort. i put some food in a dip in the rags next to her and she is eating a little (its hard because of the twitching)and there is a small dish of water next to her also. I cannot locate a hot wter bottle to put under the rags for the night nor do we have a heating pad

anyone got any other ideas that will help her recovery and survival

What you have done so far sounds right. Please give a call to an avian vet as soon as they open and explain your situation. Many vets will be flexable with payment issues.Someone else may have experience with this and be able to offer more sugestions.

I have had budgies for many years and unfortunately have not had this happen. Until you have a chance to call the vet, you may want to fill a while athletic sock with rice and then microwave the sock to warm the rice...you can then place it under a towel to keep the little one warm...good luck and I hope everything is okay...

I agree with the previous posters. If she has a favorite food (millet?), she may make an extra effort to eat it. A light may also provide warmth. I'm hoping your vet will be able to help you out, but if not, please check with your local animal shelter. They should be able to refer you to someone who can help. I'm sorry for your troubles.
