Exclamation Cage for a conure

I am thinking about ordering this cage for a conure--what do you think? It's $129 + shipping= $160 I think it's a great deal!

Wow! What are the dimensions and the bar spacing? Those are the most important things. What kind of conure is it?

I don't know, off hand, what good bar spacing for conures is, but I'd guess maybe 5/8"? The cage itself certainly looks big enough to me, but sometimes pictures can be deceiving.

That's the same cage I'm thinking about getting for my quaker. If the spacing is 1/2", its great. It its more, than the bars are too far apart.

I'm so bad at math, is 9/16ths more or less than 5/8ths, is 9/16ths appropriate for a conure?

It's a lovely cage! Looks very big! Or maybe that's because the photo is so big???

It looks great and all, but here's my '2 cents'. The top is very dangerous, and so if you DO decide to buy it, LEAVE the top CLOSED, better yet, lock it close with something so that it can't be opened. A bird could easily die if they got their head stuck in there for one reason or another (the bird tried to open up the top for one... or two the top closed on the bird).

Then the legs... They look thin. I don't know how sturdy and strong they are, though I've had problems with thin cage legs, these were probably 1/2 inch square metal.... hmm what's the word I'm lookin for? It's not pipes, but hopefully you get the idea. The legs were thin, the cage itself is about 4'w x 2'd x 3'h or something near there (don't have deminsions of the top of my head). Well, the legs wouldn't stay together and because of the legs the cage actually fell a few times (with birds inside). I just don't trust thin legs so wouldn't trust that cage either, especially if it was being moved and one of the legs got caught on something....

Other than those two features that I don't care for, it looks like a lovely and wonderful cage!

Chelsea- I have that exact cage in tan, and I am sorry to say, its crap. The grate is not welded together very good, so it started rusting within the first year. Its not the easiest thing in the world to clean, and of the three birds I put in there ( conure, caique, and tiel) they all learned how to escape out the food dish doors. I actually came home one day to find my conure walking around the floor with the cats- and the cage was completely locked! Also, the playtop part of the cage doesnt lock very tightly, so the bird can push it up and get about half a head out, or in the case of a smaller bird, such as a greencheek conure, most of the head out. The bars are pretty weak for a cage such as that, and overall, its not welded together very good, so when you take it oustide for good hosing downs, water gets in those tight places and causes it to rust. I had that cage for a little under a year, and was already in the spot of having to replace it. I would not recommend that cage at all.

I've gotten many cages like that from ebay and it's a hit or miss type thing when it comes to the quality. Some times, as with any thing you have to put together, corners are not exact, screws don't go all the way in, one wheel goes in a little further than another so it rocks a bit. You might luck out and get a good one. I've ordered about 5 from different vendors on ebay and the last one I ordered the play top would not lock appropriately. But like I said, you might not have any problems with it. The legs are fine though, they are strong and appropriate for the cage. Basically you get what you pay for and if it was inexpensive then you will know why. Some of us just can't afford the best stainless steel cage so we do the best we can and go for size and then quality. Obviously we'd like both but can't always get it that way.
