Boy, was I dumb...

Hi all, so here I am icing my bottom lip after an ekkie beak went almost through it. My fault entirely, I completely mis read her body language went for a kiss, which she usually loves to do, she puffed up which she hadn't done before and in the back of my mind i thought maybe this wasn't such a good idea, but i was home from vacation and wanted her to give me a kiss... stupid stupid stupid
Oh well, live and learn I suppose.

I like to pride myself on learning from other people's mistakes. However, this is one I won't be learning from because I can't help but kiss my Pumpkin. Hope you are feeling better.

I had the same thing happen to me on Friday night. My B&G Sapphire nipped me on the right cheek when I was kissing her, simply because she didn't want to go in her cage for the night. We've raised her from a naked chicken, and she's almost a year old, I never expected it. Now, I'm a little more careful.

I think I've gotten a little too trusting with my cag. She loves to snuggle against my cheek and kiss all over my face, and I love it when she does it, but it seems as if there have been several posts lately about face bites! I need to be more careful from now on!

Yes, I was very lucky......it was not much more than a scratch and didn't bleed a lot, but it was an eye-opener, I'm still the boss, she goes in her cage when I want her to, but next time.....no good night kiss.

If there's a parront here who hsn't shed some blood at one time or another I'd be very surprised. My sweet Liza Loo, who came to live with me at nine months (now 5+ years) pierced my bottom lip almost through over Christmas last year when I had her on my lap and bent over to kiss her on her back. It startled her and she reacted and nailed me. Hope you heal up really fast with no scarring.

Welcome to Parronthood! I have had many a bite but luckily none on my face. My daughter however took a bite to the underside of the top lip(you know where it attaches to the gum above you teeth). The human mouth is a dirty thing, hers became infected and was quite painful. Keep it clean, and if there is injury to the inside of your mouth, use listerine, even if it hurts.
