Liquid Amber Tree......

I have a Liquid Amber tree in my front yard and I was wondering if I could use the branches to make a bird perch. I have read that the tree was bird safe but I just called a local avian vet and he said that the sap is probably toxic to birds. Do any of you know if this tree is ok to make a bird perch out of? If it is ok, do you know what I should sanitize the braches with?
Thank you in advance,
-Jim

http://www.geocities.com/tooland/woods.htm << is the best descriptive list of safe trees and Liquidamber is one of them. I would have thought it would be a no-no as it is a "gum" tree but then again I thought that Eucalyptus would have been bad as well because of the high oil content.
There is some good info to be had there.
We had a Liquidamber tree in our apartment complex and am soooo glad that they got rid of it. As beautiful as it may be in the fall, those horrid little (little, Ha!) seedpods are killers.
Hope that helped a bit.

Yeah, I will start posting more often. We got her 2 weeks ago but we had been visiting her in the nursery for about a month prior to taking her home. Because she knew my girlfriend and me very well before she came home, she didn’t have any problems at all. She didn’t change at all from when she was in the nursery and she has been real nice for the most part. She isn’t loud, and loves to cuddle. It is so nice having her home. We were driving about 2 hours down to San Diego to visit her. We did that drive 1 or 2 times per week, but it was all worth it because she hasn’t seemed to be stressed out at all and she seemed to enjoy the ride home.

Sounds so lovely! I remember when I first saw pics of her in the photo album when she was still at the nursery, and I was curious to know more about her (even sent you a PM saying that you should post some so that we could get to know her and you as well!). Glad to see you finally posting!

Yeah, I didn’t know I got a PM. Sorry about that. I didn't intentionally ignore you. This may sound stupid, but how do I know when I get a PM?

It would show on the first page, under "Welcome, JMan". It's alright though, I atleast figured you were too busy with your new baby to do much on BB yet, anyway!
