And, just curious, did you keep the pet shop bird and take him up on the price adjustment? It sounds like that poor bird could really use a good home like yours sounds to be.

Hi yes i did keep her. I also took the price adjusment and am putting towards a bigger cage. I know its going to be hard work to hopefully tame her, but i shall try my best. I do hope she is happy here with us ,,i thought she seemed very stressed at first but she is enjoying her time out of the cage every day now and always goes back into the cage on her own when she is hungry after a couple of hours.

You did a good thing - this qualifies as a rescue. Rescues rarely end up as tame as a baby you have had since it was weaned although that does not mean she is not a bird worthy of being loved and cared for properly.

dont worry too much about taming her.
As long as you spend time with her and give her positive attention she will come around by herself.

tiels tame pretty quick with hardly any effort at all because they love attention and dont really enjoy being left out of the flock.

Good for you, you got some of your money back and you keep her. Think she really needed you and will come around. Two thumbs up for you.

Birds can actually learn to talk before they are weaned... although this is usually so for the medium to larger parrots where it takes them longer to wean than the other smaller species.

Congrats on the new little guy, and best of luck with them both!

Hi thankyou so much for all your kind comments. Ill keep you posted how i get on with her. She seems to be not as frightened when i need to be near or in her cage, so she seems to be settling down a bit. She enjoys bieng out of her cage every day and at the moment goes in after a couple of hours when she hungry. So even if she never gets hand tame then at least she will hopefully be happy (fingers crossed).
