Parrotlet talking ability?

I know that parrotlets can talk but of the people that actually have them is it common for them to talk or just an ability?

My parrotlet does not talk yet but she is still very young. She will mimic sounds you make to her though which leads me to believe she will. You need to train them to talk. I figure mine will likely start barking first as my dogs bark anytime someone passes the house and she gets excited as well !

We had a parrotlet (recently passed away) who never did talk. I always heard they could, but I have yet to meet someone who actually owns a talking p'let.

Hmmmm....Well now I am on a mission to train mine to talk ! She does mimic sounds so maybe they do not talk "clearly" like other parrots do. Kind of like peeps dogs that say "I love you". Either way I love her as much !

Thanks everyone! Now the question is there a certain way to teach them to talk or just constanly talking to them or working with just one word for a few min several times a day?

I have noticed mine usualy at night she will chatter and mumble to herself and my friend also just got a p' let he is about 6 months old now and does the same thing and a couple of times we thought we herd him say pritty bird and he plays peek a boo so maybe we migt have one that will

parrotlet talk

Years ago I got an old parrotlet passed onto me. I did not know the bird talked until I had him separated away from my other birds. He talked so quietly that I never heard him (had him for a few years). My other bigger birds drowned him out!

I have a pair of Pacifics. The male says Hello. It is very low key and gravely. More gravely than a budgie or parakeet, but still understandable. Just repeat to the p'let a word or short phrase everytime you go in to feed him.
