Bedtime question

I've been reading about how birds need atleast 10 hrs of sleep.
In the wild, they'd be sleeping with sunset and getting up at sunrise, right?

well, that wouldn't work very well for me so I was planning on using cage covers to delay wake up time to something like 7am.
I figured that wouldn't be such a major issue since the house would be quiet until we all wake up.

as for covering at night, do we have to be quiet once the bird is covered?
For example, can I be watching TV, with the covered cage in the same room?

birdy bed time is 8 PM during daylight savings time and 7 PM the rest of the year. So in reality its thhe same time. lol They get up when I do between 6:30 and 7 AM.

everything I have read states that once the cage is covered, the bird should be uninterrupted and away from activity, tv, etc. Even though they are covered, they don't fully get the rest they need since they should be in a space which is quiet...possibly consider a sleep cage in a room away from evening activity. I have Kiwi's cage in the dining room and we turn out the lights, close the shades and keep the tv in the family room down until we head upstairs. That seems to work for us.

12 hours is best for most birds. Chipper gets 12 or 13. I cover her.
