pet store owners?

I was just wondering how many pet store owners are on here. Hopefully the beginning of the year I will have a bird only store open. I had planned on it last year but things fell thru.
I know pet stores usually have a bad rep. but that's exactly the reason I'm opening my own store! The closest DECENT store that carries anything for birds is an hr and a half away from me. Once in a while I'll drive about a half hr to the only pet store close enough to me that kinda carrys what I need, but only when I'm really out of something. Everytime I'm in there I always get stopped by another customer who ends up asking me questions on what they should buy. Lol, I guess that's because the employees are busy hiding because they don't know the answers! I have no problem saying "I'm sorry I don't know the answer to that but I'd be more than happy to find out for you."
Anyway, for those of you who run their own stores, any advice? I do plan on holding some small workshops and hopefully get a few guest speakers in. I want to educate people as well as sell them the proper supplies they need to properly care for their birds.
