opinion on a breeder

Are any of you familiar with this breeder or based on the website (it's huge), do you think they look like a reputable one?

Aves International- We raise exotic birds and parrots and publish the Baby Bird Calendar.

I am particularly interested in learning about the hahn's macaw (debating between that one, a pionus, green cheek conure or caique...)
Is the stuff they say about it accurate? anyone else have a hahn's??

Gail's favorite small parrot species- Hahn's and Noble Macaws

I know the site is huge, but I'd really appreciate your opinion and whether you think their description of the various species is accurate.

Thank you!!

Though I don't know much about many different species, I will say this much... The first breeder has an awesome health guarantee. Should they live up to it, it's one of the best that I've ever saw.
I've had this site save in my favorites and have referred back to it several times for answer to some questions of my own.

I'll continue to browse the sites. If I come up with anything more I will be sure to share.

Aves Int. has always been known to be great breeders... I've never heard anything bad about them! And I tend to browse the net a LOT!

Ooh, I'm so glad to hear!! They are located relatively near me so I can drive and pick up a bird. I'm a bit uncomfortable about having a bird shipped so I've been looking around my area to find a breeder/store to do business with.

It looks like between Aves and Omars shop, I will have good resources.

Actually, between the two, you'll have a WIDE range of species to choose from! I'd recommend either place, to be honest.

I was at Omar's yesterday helping my DD's friend pick out a cockatiel.
They told me that they will give her a 'starter kit' with the bird, which I figured was a baggie full of seeds. Instead they gave us--20% off the cage, and about 20 lbs of assorted food (basic seeds, millet spray, some bean mix you cook up, fruit/nut mix, a huge cuttlebone, a mineral block) plus a toy off the shelf which was priced $10.99.
On top of that, we got a caresheet and a free vet exam certificate. They also wanted us to bring the 'tiel back in a week for a weight check to make sure that s/he is thriving.

We had already purchased a cage earlier and didn't have a carrier. So the clerk pulled one off the store shelf, took the packaging off and told us we could borrow this one --that we could just bring it back in a week when we return for a weight check. In the meantime, we could select a carrier that we liked. I thought that was extremely nice.

So far, I've been very impressed with this store!

I'm planning on calling Aves International in the next week or so once my visiting in-laws leave. I want to get a feel of what they are like too.

Actually I bought some birds from Gail a long time ago (15-20 years ago?) They were in the canarywing family. At that time she had the birds surgically sexed using someone who was not a veterinarian. I had serious problems with one of the birds as a result and he didn't make it. She was pretty nasty about the whole thing.

good to know, I will ask them how they sex the birds nowadays.
Did she honor her guarantee at the time? If her guarantee is valid, she shld have reinbursed you or replaced the bird.

She did neither. I ended up shipping the remaining birds I bought from her to another California breeder who was breeding that particular species. I only had the shipping reimbursed.
