What fun! I feel I'm neglecting my birds by not buying pumpkins for everyone! Thanks for sharing.

I'm thinking about trying to give my macaw pumpkin for the first time but I'm not sure how to do it. I actually posted a question about pumpkin and squash under macaws. Can they eat the whole thing raw like in the video or should the insides be scooped out and cooked? Thank you for any advice!!

Let them go for it raw. Pretty sure a Macaw won't have any problems biting threw the pumpkin. The seeds and goo on the inside actually seemed to be the favorite. Wash the pumpkin real good first. Its ok to cook it a bit too if you want but I believe that may be even messier.

I wonder....

I have smaller birds so may get one, wash it, and cut it into sections to see if anyone would explore them. Sounds like a weekend project to try. Thanks for the videos... really amazing to watch.

sadly Benji and Cricket didn't show any interest in their pumpkin pieces. But it didn't surprise me as its hard to get them interested in anything when they are together.

I like how you take lots of pictures and videos of your birds to share with us.

That Sophie video is the best. First she is all tentative but soon her whole head is practically buried in the pumpkin lol

Are pumpkins typically sprayed with chemicals? I might be inclined to skin it first. Since they are mostly sold as decorative for halloween, maybe they are sprayed heavily to keep them looking pristine? I could be paranoid lol
