Cheap bird toys

Thought I'd pass this along for all you with curious birds.

Cory loves to play with things with lids or parts that she can try to get open. For example, I have a lip balm in a sliding case that every morning she has to steal and take the lid off. The other day she discovered the dental floss case - she got it open and then got the top off so the floss all spilled out.
Yesterday I went to Target and spent a whopping $3.00 on travel size containers for her - one rectangular and one round bottle, both with different caps; a toothbrush carrier; and a 7-day pill dispenser. She can have just the bottles to try to get open, or we can fill them with seeds to make it more of a game. I thought perhaps filling each of the pill dispenser slots with one sunflower seed might keep her busy so we can watch the news in peace.
Way cheaper than the $20 foraging toys that she's afraid of!

Another great one for little guys is the little paper bathroom disposable cups. My quaker just loves destroying them.

My quaker LOVES penut cans with just a few penuts in them. He goes ABSOLUTELY NUTS when you shake it and will RUN as fast as he can accross the room over to you, then he screams until you open it and let him pick one out.

bindy too!

my IRN loves the tins like from altoids, and the small baby cups (tupperware type for cherrios). we put marbles in them, and she loves to shake it around and try to open them up. great idea about the other types of containers...i'm on my way to target now!

My birds' favourite toy is FREE--if you have a good backyard! Branches of bottle brush, grevillieas, gum trees. For larger birds like cockatoos-they love to destroy pinecones.

Toys

pinecones are great, toothbrushes are better and most dentists will donate them to you.
Another one is an old perscription bottle with nuts in it (just make sure you clean it good)they will figure out how to get the lid off.

Tiki loves anything that she can climb on. She is not one for traditional parrot toys. I have bought those and she ignores them. She LOVES skinny, tan rope hung all over her cage so she can climb away and chew. I've bought swings and she ignores them but if I hang a peice of rope up like a swing she goes crazy! If she can't eat it or climb on it, she's not happy.
