AviCalm - Anti-Agression? Does anyone use this product?

Has anyone used avicalm by avitec http://www.avitec.com/NutriN3.html
I think it's main purpose is for feather picking but it says it's helpful for stressed and screaming birds. Dandy is not only screaming but she's acting so crazy she just runs and runs around the cage and when she's out she can't stay still for a second I'm taking her to the vet Saturday for some advice from him. But I'm really at the end of my rope as to doing things to get her to stop screaming.

I am using it on my Ekkie, Mai Tai. It always stops her feather destruction and will keep her on track for the month after I take her off. I thinks its a mild sedative that doesn't interfere with their quality of life, but it does seem to relieve their anxiety. It hasn't done anything for my BG, Mia, however who continues to pull feathers. I will continue using it. I like it better than King's Pluck No More and it costs less.

I've also used this product (Avicalm). I only used it for maybe a month or so on my CAG Shadow who was plucking. But then I decided to moved her to her own cage (She was with Coco, another CAG). She decided that she did not like the taste of the avicalm and would refuse to eat, I even tried covering cookies with peanut butter and then sprinkle the avicalm but she would not eat it. I finally decided to stop it and she is doing much better. I don't know for sure what made her feel better the avicalm or the fact that she was moved to her own cage.

I'm dredging this out of the archives as it's a product that I'm considering for my cockatoo to see if it may settle her down and maybe stop her agressions. She's biting now all of a sudden at hands, arms and face sometimes. She seems to get into this mood without warning and once in it, will not stop her attack until you towel her and put her back into her cage. Her bites are not playful at all. My fingers have cashes in them, my face has a small laceration and just last night she tried to remove one of my fingers and continued her attack dispite blood rushing from the finger in her mouth.

I'm looking for feedback and such from people who might already be using this product.

Thank you ahead of time. Please any insight into this product is helpful. Including an affordable place to get it from. The link below gives some info and a 20.00 + s/h price tag.

Avitech Products: AviCalm

Thanks again.

I don't use it right now, but I use Pluck No more. I like it fine, but if Avicalm is better, I'd like to go with it. I'm only commenting to bring the thread back to the top of the board in hopes that someone who uses it might comment back.

The website that I referred to below had a bunch of other products that dealt with plucking and plumage problems. You might be interested in that.

I just want to find out if anyone has any "anti-agression" view points on this product.

Please folks remember that this is a crazy time of year for our usually sweet fids. Its springtime, breeding season... hormones are running wild, so is agression, screaming, feather plucking, and for our birds to either attack us for no reason or become clinged to us with velcro. Its hard times for caged birds who arent being used for breeding. In most cases they are looking at you for that special companionship and you fail to notice their advances thats when sweet tweety goes hormonal. Be patient. Give treats, buy new toys, sit their cage outside at the beginning of sunset or early morn for a little fresh air (not in direct sunlight) for about an hour... spray them down with a good misting. They love the breeze and the sounds of the other birds around. Just be patient. It should all be over soon enough. Im going through it too. My Severe has built me a nest of newspaper under my loveseat and he sits there on the floor and screams until I come stick my hand under the couch and praise him for doing a good job. I also get regurgitated on daily and not by one but four macaws ranging in size. It just happens. Good Luck to all. Just dont forget to wear your "poo" shirt and stock up on band aids.

All good advice, but it isn't going to solve either of our problems. Dan's U2 is aggressive and destructive for more than just the mating season, and my Scarlett isn't a seasonal plucker.

Has no one used this? I've heard good reviews about it for both aggression and plucking, but I wanted (and I think Dan did as well) info from the people on this board who have a little more attachment and experience with their fids.

I haven't but I've considered testing it on my caique that is just truly neurotic. Have you tried chammomile with your guy's birds? That might help. I've been told that buying the chammomile seeds from bulkfoods.com can be really beneficial.
