I think she is addicted.....

I bought my parrotlet some seed called Snack Attack Song food. It has thistle, lettuce, oat groats, anise, hemp, canary seed, poppy, german millet, flax, & sesame in it. She absolutely loves it and I see now why the "attack" part is in the tiltle. She will fly on top of the fridge and tweet really loud , then jump on the pantry shelf on top of it and tweet even louder. She will even jump on my shoulder and bite my neck crazily trying to give me the hint. She does this nearly every day. I am considering not giving it to her anymore but if she loves it that much I don't want to take it away either. Are any of those ingredients harmful if they ingest too much ? She mostly picks the long black seeds out which I think would be the anise or flax ? She does eat her eggs and veggies, and daily food I give her as well. My avian vet said she will eat about 1/2 tsp. per day of food. NOT.....She really is a pig ! She weighs only 29 grams so no concern as of yet as to her eating too much.

I've seen that stuff before isn't for canaries sounds like it would be ok for other birds though. Glad she likes it so much.

It says for "canaries and finches" on it. I do not see food that says for parrotlets so I buy the tiny seeds. I just noticed she has torn some of the label off the container too. I am just wondering if this is healthy or not. I know the attitude is not ! I am still training her....about 6 weeks now. She prefers my hubby making it only that more difficult.

Since that food is ment for canaries and finches and they have dietary requirements different then hookbills, I would feed her that mixed with some parakeet seed- that way she gets the best of both worlds, and it fullfills her dietary needs. Birds in the wild are seed eaters, espicially the smaller ones such as Plets. So it is actually good for her to have seed in her diet. All of my fids have seed, then get fruits, veggies, people food.... today they got bananas, apple, dried fruit, a cracker or two, scrambeled eggs, and now they are getting some of whatever I am having for dinner!
As long as she is not on a seed and seed alone diet- seed will definatly be OK for her to eat!

My bird is just too smart. I try mixing things and she eats what she likes and flicks the rest of it (which the dogs don't seem to mind). She is an inspiration to me. I am only 5' tall and just like me.....big things come in small packages !

Does that brand carry a budgie mix? Since she loves that brand so much- if you get the same brand she might go for it, who knows....

My baby does the same thing with the food she eats what she likes and used to leave the rest but when I had a little dish of pellets or put the pellets in with her seed mix she will toss them out and litterly fling them twords me

she also like/prefers the parakeet seed mix with out the larger stuff and I just also got a mix of canary stuff to try which sounds basicly what you listed. I did this cus i got tyard of her just leaving all the larger seeds on top and it seemd like such a waste when i could buy it with out them. she also gets all kinds of other foods vegies and dried fruit and nuts ect during the day.
