My little half breed???
I read some other post about the U2 and the Mol. being breed together and it got me think about my U2.
We have always called her joking "our little wonderful half breed." We rescued her from and horrible petshop. All we were able to find about she was that the owner of 3 years died of cancer and the wife didn't want her. She was plucked, shaking and seemed terrified of all the other birds screaming. All she had to do was walk right over to the side of her cage. Raise that top say, "Hello, I love you" and reach right out to kiss me and I was Cooked! My husband didn't even blink when I said get the checkbook; this babydoll is going home with me. Home is where she has been since! (problems and ALL!and believe me it has not been without her fairshare, I carry the scars to prove it.) But the Good Lord willing she will always have a home with me. Here is my question: Just wondering if any of you have seen this. My friend and I were talking, who happens to be a breeder and owns over 600 birds. When we looked at her' she has those blue eyes' not like most U2's we have seen and we put her up to his 3 month old male U2 and he is already bigger than her. Everyone who sees her says can't believe how small she is for a U2. With the eyes been blue but all else being U2, we have always assumed she was a cross between a U2 and a ducorp's. I posted a couple of pic in the member gallery;showing her top, she is a U2. And one that you can see her eyes blue and next to a flashlight to show scale. Has anyone seen one of these and does anyone own one? Tamaran

I would say that she is a full blooded U2 just what I have seen off of centralpets.com and other U2 owners. The blue eyes on a ducorps are totally different and they are hard to find birds, at least that is what it says on that website. So she just might be a runt. I know, I know, I am just no help am I lol

More than likely just a normal U2 that may be a bit small for her size! Soem birds are just bigger or smaller than others! I know that with my own cherry head she weighs 150 grams, and would be considered normal. However, there are people out there who own perfectly healthy cherry heads that weigh 200 grams and don't normally see one much smaller than that. I know for a fact that I've seen a cherry head smaller than 150 grams (she looked about 130grams!).
U2's are suppose to have a blue tinge to the area around their eyes, but maybe it's for a fact that hers are a deeper blue than others, or the others don't have the blue tinge.
