Feedback Wanted...

Well our chat room kicked off with a decent following when we launched it and well people lost interest since we didn't have like set times to try and meet up and people were in and out becuase people were a hit and miss.

A couple of ideas I had to try and increase the use of the chat room is to set up certain nights and times like we had before but really try and cut down and focus on like 2-3 days a week where there is a set time to try and meet up instead of everyday.

Some people wanted audio chat, video chat and etc right now the scripts can't do that yet and without going to a 3rd parties software,I really could use some feedback on this on increasing chat room use.

Find a way to advertise its existence. I didn't even know you had chat until threads popped up about it. I know it is a link up top but I doubt allot of people notice it. Maybe highlight the link or make it bold or sticky something to popular rooms announcing its existence.

Is there a way to see who's in chat before you just pop in there? That might be useful.

Chat times would be good, but I always had trouble with this on other boards because of time zone differences and people logging in during different times.

Would the chat room still be open all the time if we had scheduled chats?

It might be nice to have scheduled chat topics... i.e. Breeding one night, macaws one night, training one night... etc. etc.

I think a pop up when we are signed onto BB as to when someone enters the chat room. That would work for me!!

We use to have graphics showing it existed this month since we are in a transtional stage to alot of new features and some new design stuff... you might have missed it... but its good you on top of that.

You think people will like having popups ?

I would like the pop ups.

If you had pop ups, maybe you could have a user option to disable them.

One thing I didn't like about the chat room is that you couldn't CHOSE a chatroom right off the bat..It may sound cliquey, but if you and a buddy enter a chatroom, others who aren't as well known kind of get left out in the cold. It seems kind of rude to enter a main chatroom, and then squirrel off into a private room with a friend or two (or in some cases 6 or 7)...

I know that there are quite a few of us who use SKYPE or MSN...

Many people have Pop up blockers so i dont think that would be a very good idea. Maybe someone could put up a sticky or post a couple days early that said when a meeting time would be (i.e. Wed Dec 21 @ 9:00 EST).I thought Alika's idea was a good one by having a different chat topic on different nights, and having a schedule.

I think if people used it a couple times and had fun that they would be more likely to go back at other times to see if anyone is hanging out in there! My $0.02

Keev, most of us have migrated to MSN or Skype because we can use the voice clips and audio/video convos. Plus those of us who are very close friends can have a private convo.

Every once in a while, I check to see if anyone is in the chat room, but if no one is there, I won't usually go in. Scheduled chats are hard for people in different tomezones, the only universally good time seems to be Friday night in the USA which is Saturday morning for Aussies.

This kinda goes back to when we were debating of whether to have a chat room or not... If people are not going to use it why have it.... ?

Might have to axe this feature then...
