I started goofin around with my camcorder & the video editing programs I have on my computer.
I sure some of this is going to go over the heads of the less than computer savvy members, but if anyone doesn't understand what I'm talking about - PM me... or just skip down to the videoclip. The Adobe Premier I have is an older version and doesn't play well with WinXp - it crashes or freezes a lot. I've resigned myself to givin up on it and trying to learn the ins & outs of other two I have. There are many similarities between them both, but there's also so many options, it's gonna take a while of me fiddlin around them to understand the strengths of each. MuVee Producer 5 is OK, but I dislike the fact that it forces ya into using certain elements like their presentation "styles". If the ones that come with the software aren't your cup of tea or just plain don't fit the occasion, you can, of course, purchase others online... The other thing I was slightly disappointed in was MuVee 5's video capture function- it doesn't offer the file format and video resolution options that the Pinnacle software does. The other video editor I have is Pinnacle Studio 11. It's surprisingly sophisticated and can output clips in .AVI, DivX, iPod compatible, MPEG 1/2/3 & 4, Real Media, Sony PSP compatible and .WMV formats. It also has a wide variety of video sizes from Low Quality NTSC 176x132@15fps with 2ch stereo audio to High Quality NTSC 640x480 with 5.1 surround sound audio..... (The Pinnacle Studio Plus! version also gives the user the option of High Definition Video from 720/30p 1280x720 all the way up to 1080/60i 1920x1080 with 5.1 surround audio.) I like Studio 11 quite a bit, but think there might be a bug in the program and I'm in the process of contacting Pinnacle about it. One minute the program can access the data stream from my camcorder through USB-2, then the next time I try, it insists that the connection be via IEEE1394 Firewire... (which of course is the one dang cable that isn't supplied with the camcorder.) I used Studio 11 for the clip below. The clip is very simple. There's no "title" -other than the humorous "C" rating smiley at the very beginning. I didn't add any music either, but I did use a few transitions between scenes. LOL! Studio 11 has so many transitions, I kinda lost track of time scannin through them. I'll have to see about grabbing some copyright free music for future clips... but for now, here's my wife talking to and givin skritches to Gracie: Skritches Central- Our lovable Pi Enjoy! ![]()
