If you are able to take care of her and work with her, finding a home for her shouldn't be too hard, even if someone was interested in breeding her (if you decide to take that route). More than likely she was handraised but not worked with much so became "wild".
I'm not sure what's wrong with her eye but if something is wrong she may end up having slight blindness in that eye in the very least. She could very well be very sick and should probably get avian vet help now.

I agree with Monica - she needs to see a vet.
As far as being wild - I have a quaker here that I traded a hot tub for! He is wild, bites every chance he can get, yet we love him dearly! We know that he is happy and to us that is all that matters - hopefully there will be someone out there who feels the same way and you won't have problems rehoming this little one.

Think of it as a holiday chance/gift. If you have the room in your heart right now it is the opportunity to give a cool little life a better future. Even if it is not ultimately with you it would still be a good thing. As for not getting attached.... We are all suckers on this board to one degree or another. That is what we have in common, it's hard to love animals and not get attached to one, especially one in need.
As for the mean thing - So what? Allot of people here have experiences with bad birds only to find it was really an issue of bad owners. |

Hi Faith, Here's what I'm thinkin, I'm thinkin that it might help you heal faster and you might even want to keep this little birdie. You both need each othr right now. He's calling for you. You can get him with the intention of placing him but leave room open to keep him if you feel you can at some point. I would def have him see a vet about the eye. It could just be an infection that can be treated with an ointment and left untreated he could go blind. Keep us posted

I feel that God knows what we need when we need it. He very well may be sending you what you need in a small package called a quaker! It may also be His answer to the quakers prayers as well. Even if you don't wind keeping him, I agree that it could help mend your broken heart and regain trust in yourself again.
You are a kind and loving person. Please don't keep beating yourself up over the accident. I'd love to see you rescue this quaker!!

I agree with Tracy and everyone else. This little Quaker seems to need you just as much as you need him!

I agree with Tara, Tracy (have to agree with someone who has a great name like that - LOL) and Lori. This just could be the start to help healing your broken heart. Take him in - even if temporary - you might grow to love him and he might love you..................who knows until you try.

all very well said and I feel the same. In your post about dear Kiwi you even said you would only take a rescue and a medium sized bird. How does your husband feel about it though?

You know...
I got my caique cause he was a holy terror. No one wanted him, they all really valued their fingers, toes, etc :-) It was a case of bad pairing bird/owner, and now that little "lucifer" is the love of my life. I wouldnt trade him for the world- he is the sweetest bird you can imagine! I think this fid needs you, and once he/she is out of the old environment, getting some love and attention and feeling better (need to get that eye checked out by an AV) his/her "wildness" will diminish with training and patience....
