The saddest day

Today I had to do the saddest thing. I feel like I've given away my kids...well I guess I gave them up for adoption. I tried to find someone on here to take them in but no one responded so I let Animal Jungle have them. I cried so much. I feel like they are really confused right now. I hope they arent blaming themselves. My poor babies.

I couldnt have them in Virginia because the dorms over here can't have birds. I think a policy should be airforce wide. I would have never taken on fids if I knew I would not be able to take them with me.

My mom had them but she couldnt handle their screaming. They yelled at her when she came home from work and she couldnt play with them. I live pretty far away so I could only play with them on weekends.

I'm hoping that I will be able to get them back soon. I'm trying so hard to move off post and get an apartment. There's just so many rules. I miss them !

This might not make you feel better, but sometimes we have to do what is best for out birds even if it is not what is best for us.

Keep your chin up.

I am so sorry, that is heartbreaking! It's not fair of the army to make you give up your tiels, I mean how much trouble can they be? Maybe there are BB members near you who could board them until your situation changes. I hope you get them back soon!

So sorry to hear about your birds!

Sorry to be stupid, but what's the difference between a dorm and regular military housing? Are they the same thing? I used to live at Langley AFB when I was a kid...on Warhawk Drive.

You gave them to a pet store? Did you see if there were any bird rescues in your area?

oh sweetheart, I am so sorry. I am in WV, I don't know how far that is from you but if you needed to I would have boarded them for you for a little while. I wish I would have read your post sooner. I can't believe that I missed them

I'm really fretting about this! If someone could take them in I'm sure I can get them back. The lady I talked to said she bred cockatiels and that she would keep them as breeders. Since they are boys I didnt mind that too much, the problem may be that I might not be able to get them back. Plus what if they don't like her birds. What part of WV. I'm in Virginia Beach/Hampton.

A dorm is not diffrent from a barracks. It's just a facy word the air foce uses.

I am in Fairmont, WV. I don't travel far or that much since I do have my own fids that need me. But I do help as many people as I can with their fids and I would be willing to help you. I am not in the military, but I know what you are going through. You see I am a contracted worker for the U.S. Army as an Admin Assistant for recruiting, so I do know how tough the Military can be. PM if you like. I don't have any cockatiels in my flock so they would be the only ones if you choose to board them with me. All I ask is to make sure that they have had a vet check up before they come into my home. Don't worry I won't steal them from you What you should do is come and visit me and bring your tiels. That way you can see me, my family and home and see if we all click. I won't be offended if you say no, I just wanted to offer a friendly hand to a parrot parent in need, like I would do for anyone
