cage building

at the moment i have 4 zebra finches (2 pair) and 5 babies in a nest. i know that my cage is to small for all those finches when the babies get older. im actually pushing it with the 2 pair as it is. i want to build a large cage indoors. im wanting to know what type of fencing i should use to build with. chicken wire seems to be to large. any suggestions would be nice. also pictures of cages that you have built yourself for ideas on the type im building. thanx

Well Gary, it depends on how much you want to spend on building a large cage and how much room exactly you have for it?.......I personally would construct one that is 8'longx4'deepx4'tall approx......I would suggest using a 4x8 sheet of polycarbonate for the front so it would be like looking into a fish tank. :) ......Any wire that you want to use in the construction should either be 1/2x1" GAW aviary wire or ya could probably just use Hardware Cloth (wire actually) from H.D.......I would lay one or two F.S. Light fixtures on the top and attach to a timer....That's it for now. :)

build a custom cage? farther down in this same section. I asked the same type of question and got a lot of great response.

Still working on it. Looking for a mesh I can aford. Stainless seems to be most wanted but out of my price range.
