Just so people know the opinions posted of members on birdboard is not nessasarily the opinion of BirdBoard.com. We welcome the ideas of both sides... and its for you to decide what ideas, practices, and etc serves your situation best.

To the above post-
That is why this place is good, a diversity of views and opinions. While I believe what I believe I preface it with words like think, feel, etc. This is a subjective subject and, quite honestly, if Dustin were to ever feel like he didn't want a RF/B&G mix, it would have a home with me, I'd rename him Merlinzilla

I actually worry over Berta since she is a hybrid more than I otherwise would - she's so tiny compared to the robust purebred specimens at the pet store where I got her - I worry she is one of those unfortunate ones for whom the cross didnt work out too well. I was happy to hear that the blindness was not from anything inherently wrong with her (injury most likley). That was a relief.

Still, I'm afraid she isnt as strong & healthy as I would ideally have her be. But of course, I'd rescue another hybrid in an heartbeat too - she has been well worth the worry!

Berta's lovely (which they all are, purebred or otherwise) but more than that, she's just such a strong little person inside that tiny feathered body - she has such an amazing spirit! I dont really care what her blood lines are - she's wonderful for the creature she is, and that's what I love her for.

And she chose me - I was actually a little afraid of her at first. I didnt know she was a hybrid either - they told me she was a greenwing, and I myself was so green about birds in general that about all I knew was that she had a very large beak and was obviously some sort of macaw. But she so badly needed a home, and I myself have a far more minor physical handicap, so I felt it was meant to be.
I'm sooo glad I took her!

Alyce:

I'm glad you took her too. She's almost as lucky as you
