I too forgot to mention I live on a golf course. I thought it would be nice until I noticed they start maintenance at about 4 AM. It is very noisy and they have spotlights on their machines so they can see, which obviously glares into your windows. Oh my goodness....it is sooooooooooo irritating, ummmmmm, I need to go to work tommorrow ! I really am happy with the wildlife however, this includes beautiful ducks, hawks, crafty racoons and squirrels. I can easily go watch the sandpipers at the beach which really is a hoot... I have always admired them ! Need to LOVE what God has given us to admire and love.....all I can say !

You already sound so much happier since she's come to visit - I think you should just bite the bullet & keep her! She sounds absolutely adorable. If they werent illegal here in CA I'd be very tempted to come get her myself. But clearly, she really likes you - and even the dog can see it. The fact that the dog was not pleased means he sees real potential for that little bird to steal & heal your heart.

When my husband first came to stay with me overnight, my senior Tom cat got up into his overnight bag, squatted down and peed - in plain view of both of us. I told him to take it as a good sign - the cat could tell right away that a serious rival had arrived for my affections. Of course, if he hadnt won over the Tom, I wouldnt have married him - I consider my cats to be excellent judges of character. But the Tom cat adored him in the end, and I think my husband was as broken up when that cat died as I was. Anyway, I suspect that little doggie senses a powerful rival...

Laurie, she lives within five miles of me. You know that Casa Amazona is ALWAYS open as a transit station for wayward birds. Just let me know if you want me involved.

Update !

I took Pistachio to the Avian sat. and turns out she has a cataract (not sure if i spelled that right!). She will be just fine. Seems it is likely genetic and has always been there as it doesn't seem to bother her one bit. Her sight has always been impaired in that one eye. She is healthy and has no signs of any illness with could cause this, such as diabetes. I am still looking for a home for her. Billy syas a firm "NO" as to keeping her which I cannot recall him "ever" saying no to me and I have to respect that. He loves animals so and Kiwis death has just been devastating for both of us. It has not even been a month yet. That and the fact that my Raspy definitely made it clear she would like to get at it if she could. I have to think of what is best for the bird.....not me. Here are some pics of her. I will continue to look after her until a proper home is found. Thanks !
