Question Quaker with eye infection

Some of you know that I am taking a relatives quaker, Pistachio to the vet for an eye infection. She has an appointment tommorrow. He brought her
over last night and it wasn't as bad as I thought. I could not even see it until he pointed it out to me. There is a tiny white spot within her eye. He says it has gotten smaller. There is no crust or puss or anything and she can defintely see out of it fine. Saturday is not a good day for me so I tried to re-schedule but nothing open til next Thursday so I kept it. This bird is amazing ! I have not known a Quaker before but she is quite the entertainment and beautiful too ! At first when I tried to pick her up she gave me a warning bite so I just kept talking sweetly to her. She made slow steps across her perch as I talked all the way over until she jumped on my shoulder and gave me a bunch of kisses ! She also said hello. Keep in mind this bird was bought for his daughter who took no interest. She says it is mean.....no it is not ! She calls it names, and is not very nice but is only 14 so does not understand apparantly. She wanted a puppy. Once my hubby started band practice she enjoyed the music. When they started with the Native Indian flute and Jimbay, she got really excited and started to dance ! After seeing me laugh and enjoy it so much she would dance anytime I walked by. What a show off ! I wish I could take her but am still in a healing process from Kiwi. Not only that but My Raspy pup did not like her being over one bit ! I guess if I do get another bird it will need to be big enough to intimidate her. I am going to ask the Avarian tommorrow if he knows someone who may want her. As smart as she is I suspect she will be speaking in full sentances before too long. She is 9 months old. If I do place and ad. For how much ? Really I would give her away free but am scared as to who may reply to an ad for free. She comes with a beautiful cage. I would say at least a $350 one. So would $100 sound good ??? If someone knows of somewhere to download a pet bird adoption application that too would be great ! I appreciate any help on this. Thanks ! Faith

You could put an add here in the classifieds since you don't plan on keeping her. A good amount to ask would actually be around $200 or so just to make sure that someone can't just easily buy her... but if you found the person to be more than what you were looking for, you could actually give her away for free even if you asked for money. I actually put an add up for a puppy we had here.. I said I was asking a small adoption fee, but in the end I gave him up for free (as I did his other brother! but I knew the people personally that I gave the first pup away to so I didn't need to ask for an adoption fee to know that he was going to a good home!).

I hope the vet check goes well!

I wouldn't give her away unless you know the person, people don't value what they get for free. $200 for Quaker and cage is very fair.

I'd take her too if I could! I've been wanting a quaker for years! But of course, I'm already at my limit! I do need to downsize my flock, I'm just not too sure exactly who should go though! Besides, if possible I do plan on taking in one more tiel for a very short period if I can get her... but that's another story! Besides though, I think I should keep a spot open for the possibility of one very special birdy who needs help... There was talk about me taking him, but not from his owner, so if it does happen it'll probably be a long while! But someday, I will be hoping for a quaker!
