Talking I have found a cure! err....

Not a cure, LOL but a solution! I have 2 large birdcages, (3 counting the finches, but they dont come out of their cage) 1 meduim sized one. To take care of the "messes" that happen while the bird is hanging out on top of the cage, or on top of the door, I went to Costco and bought 4 large towels. Anytime they can get too dirty, I can throw them in the wash and swap them out for new ones. Simple, right? Let me tell you, that got old REALLY fast! So, lo and behold, a trip to Costco was in order again, stocking up on some of the birdies favorite frozen food, when an idea hit me like a ton of bricks Those big plastic mats that you put under your chair in your office to make it roll easier?? Heck, why not buy 3 of those, and put them under the cages? Eureka, I think I may have done it! It works perfectly- One full matt goes under both of the large cages, making it easy to clean up those messes- poop, flung food, seed hulls, the 3rd one needs to be cut in half to cover up a bit more space to go under Mercys cage (she has the biggest cage) and the leftover half will go in front of the small cage (Higgins cage)! *bows* thank you, thank you very much!

Another great option is splat mats that you put under high chairs for little kids. They are large, lightweight and user friendly. Frankly I prefer them and they come with cute little bright colored figures on them, too.

I will check those out. I went to a Family dollar store and bought some rag rugs and put under two cages on tops of some older nightstands I purchased at a yard sale sinces these two cages don't have stands. But I have hard wood floors, so the clean up isn't too bad, just moving the night stands back and forth are aggravating to sweet and mop there...speaking of mopping and all, I boil water so I don't have to use a chemical, that way my birds don't inhale anything. And yes, I use a seperate mop for the birdie room from rest of house. But,,,,is there anything I can use, to deoderize in here? I refuse to have any chemical in here! But, I'd like to but something in here for the air...hints?

Do you have a crockpot? Plug it in , put in some cinnamon sticks, an orange, and some apple juice- in no time the house will smell wonderful, and you will have some tasty apple cider!

To help deodorize, you can buy GSE from a health food store and mix in a few drops with the water you use! When diluted, it is save to drink (actually helps to retard some internal problems AND is a great overall cleaner!). You could also try using a few drops of white vinegar which can also help clean!

When I had kally in the living room, I used a plastic piece, the size of about 4ft by 5 ft. My girlfriend painted a scenery on the vinal and it looks very decorative in the living room. and easy to wash off too.
