You are both wrong, what he needs is a Princess Parrot! I mean really-a big, bald biker dude with a little pink throated bird with a purple butt!

I don't know, maybe a cockatoo would best suit here.

I definitely can relate to this thread. I've only had my Budgie for just under 3 months and I'm already talking bigger! Not to underappreciate my little baby blue Budgie though, he is the perfect and sweetest little thing ever! I research different kinds of birds every day and I tell my husband that in our next house I want a special "bird room" where we can have all sorts of play stands and huge cages and such. I think I overwhelm him sometimes at the passion I have for animals (which he does share, but I'm the one who researches everything). We already know that we want an African Grey someday (probably won't be for a couple more years), I'm thinking a Timneh.

You can't go wrong with a Timneh!!! They're the best. I'm planning on adding a second, hopefully, this spring!!

Reading most of your posts regarding Timnehs have been a positive influence on my decision. Do you have a specific breeder or do you know of any good ones?

I don't have a specific breeder at the moment. There is one in my area that just had 2 hatched a month ago. I might work with her when her babies are ready. The breeder I got Spencer from wasn't really a good breeder. Under other circumstances, I probably wouldn't have gotten a bird from him. But, I felt really bad for Spencer, and wanted to get her away from him. I didn't want him to get her into the hands of someone who didn't know a thing about what they were doing.

Where are you located?

A wonderful breeder is our own Joel. I just bought one of his young Timnehs for my sister as a Christmas gift and a sweeter little lady just couldn't be found. You can find his posts all over BirdBoard and send him a PM.

I am located in Southern Michigan. I haven't looked around my area for breeders yet though. I know it will be a little while before it is a serious committment. We will begin setting aside money for the bird and the cage and toys over the next year or so, and then maybe get serious about getting in touch with breeders. Our little house is also quite full at the moment with a dog and cats and 3 fish tanks and now little Budgie. So getting another bird may even wait until we move into our next house, whenever that may be.

Even though I don't have one of his birds, Joanie makes an EXCELLENT point!!!

Thanks for the suggestion of speaking to Joel about his birds, I did not know that he was a Timneh breeder.
