inspired by the "you guys are nuts" thread

I just wanted to say that a) I am pretty new to this forum type thing on line. b)and I am very new to the world of birds. If anybody were to ask me 18 months ago if I would be talking about birds I would of called them nuts!!! I'm a dog person, BIG dogs at that. Bald headed biker dude! Then my wife decided we wanted a Cockatiel which somehow became a Senegal who decided on no uncertain terms that I am her human! THEN for her graduation I got my wife a Lovebird. Yeah right. I know some might be but ours is all attitude. Watch me from afar but dont touch. NOW I am getting an Eclectus (remember I said I like BIG dogs? well I wanted a BIGGER bird) and now I seem to be here reading and sounding off more then anything else I do. Its good to have a multitude of opinions to choose from and a bunch of people that actually seem to know what they are talking about!!! thanks everyone!! its good to be nuts! about birds!!

and two years ago, the only thing I knew about birds was the turkey at thanksgiving and christmas and that southern fried chicken! Now when I go into a pet store I'm all, Oooooh, and ahhhhhhhs. I love the budgies, and I love the larger birds and would love to have a Cockatoo or Macaw, but my budget won't allow that anytime soon! Not to mention, my b/f might commit me to the nut house here in town if I bring ONE MORE bird home! HAHA

That sound similar to my story.I first got a Budgie on whim then it grabs hold and soon you need more and bigger! It is Very hard to stop (ask Jetanlori)! Maybe when need a PA (parrots anonomous) meeting twice a month to help people get over thier addictions! Beautiful birds by the way!

Jim, congratulations and welcome to the bird world. If you would have asked me 15 months ago what I would be doing today, it would be anything but being involved with birds. I now have a 20 month old U2 and am fascinated with the world of birds.
I am also (or was, still am but love the birds) a big dog person. I'm not a bald biker dude though.
