Question about using PVC pipes to make a gym

See this one on ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MEWA%3AIT&rd=1

How easy is this for me to make. Can you just go to home depo and get the pipes and elbows and connectors without having to custom cut them? And then can a bird stand on the pipe or does it have to be dremeled (sp?)

relatively easy. I went out and did it- and if I had cut all the pieces the right length, (doh!) and made it level (another doh!) it would have made a nice, multi- level gym.
For something to grip- get some vetwrap to put around it, gives it grip.

Where do you get vet wrap, AND can you by different size lengths of the pipe so you don't have to cut and level it

We have PVC pipe stands all over our house. They are light and very portable. All you need is a tape measure and a PVC pipe cutting tool.(Costs about $10) They can be as simple or as elaborate as you want them to be. We use ours in the kitchen for the birds to eat with us. I have small ones that sit on my bathroom vanity so that Angel can hang out with me when I'm getting ready for work(When I pick up the bottle of hair spray she says "sssshhhh, ssssshhh" just like the pump spray bottle sounds) We use one in our shower for the birds to perch on when we shower them. I'm gonna see if I can find a photo to post. Ours are of the most simple design, but I've seen some that are quite elaborate. You are limited only by your own imagination.

In the first picture you see the stands from a distance. This is at an assisted living center where we took the birds. The second is a close up of the top. I never took a picture of just the stand as ours are quite plain and nothing to brag about, but very very useful.

Yup - I have a pipe cutter. Vet wrap you can get at costco, but its also called something else. Comes in different colores too, rather then the generic flesh color.

Not to alarm anyone, but doesn't PVC pipe material contain dangerous chemicals?

What is vet wrap used for. I do not have a membership to cosco and I just know that whereever I go to find it people are gonna look at me like I have two heads, "Um yes, can you tell me where I can find vet wrap" "What the hell is that lady?"

Get Vetrap at any vet clinic. The clinic I worked at sold it, as do the 3 here in Manhattan. It is used for bandaging animals and comes in at least 5 different colors. There are 2 different sized rolls, I believe 3" or 4", and they come in many different colors. Do NOT get a generic brand, as they are sticky and tend to "bleed" on everything when wet. Get only Vetrap brand.

There are different weights of PVC pipe. Maybe just 2...but make sure you get the light weight pipe. I made the mistake of getting most of my pipe at Ace Hardware, then I needed more and happened to be by Home Depot. They sold me some really heavy stuff and I couldnt even use it.
