ALSO inspired by the "you guys are nuts" thread

I don't know if it's just me being a newbie myself, but reading about all the newly converted "nuts" made me wonder It seems more people than I thought are fairly new to birds, having had them for less than a year or so. I know I myself knew nothing about birds up until about 4 months ago and now I have a tiel and an Ekkie.

So how long have you had birds, and if it's been less than a year, how many birds do you have now? Just wondering how fast people can become "one of those crazy bird people"

I've only had Spencer for almost 2 months. but I've been "nuts" for years (quite Laurie!! )

When I lived at home (during my high school years), I always had birds. Started out with Cockatiels, then moved on to a Blue Crowned Conure and a Goffin's Cockatoo. At one point, I had 4 birds in my bedroom. Most would think that would've been a problem, but it really wasn't. I can't remember any of them ever waking me up.

But, now that I have Spencer, I'm looking to expand my flock. I'm renting the house I'm in now. My landlord is allowing me to have 2 birds. So, hopefully soon I'll have my own place and attempt to catch up the the Nancy's and Laurie's of the world!!

I've been a bird nut for a little over 2 years...started with a sun conure, then a keet, then after the conure was let out of his cage (SOBS GATOR TEARS) and he got free, i got my IRN, 2 more keets, a was given 2 teils that i gave away 2 months ago, and my boyfriend got a wild hair up his butt and bought me 4 finches, all because i said, "oooh they sound nice"....but currently my flock is 3 keets, 1 IRN, 2 finches.....I'd love to have more but I'm stopping where I am! I'd love to have a Macaw or a C'too.

Sometimes I can't believe I got TWO birds, not to mention one "large" (for me he is!) parrot, all in such a short time. Just like many people I just "started out with one" then the fever hit and I just HAD to have my Ekkie, and before my Miki I had absolutely no interests in birds at all (I'm a cat and rodent person).

Fortunately I now know I'm at my limit for now, and my next bird (hopefully a TAG) won't be for another 10 years or so. I want to wait until I get married and have kids before I get any more birds, don't ask me why

I got my tiel 8 years ago when I was 11, and my pigeon 7 years ago. I just recently got Ollie, so I'm moving pretty slow! Right now I'm definitely not looking to add to my fid family- I live in an apartment, and being a college student, money is tight. But in the future I hope to possibly add one more bird.

It'll be a year in March since Zoey came home and I am working of our third bird. Senegal, Lovebird, Eclectus. Though I am new to birds my wife isn't. It was actually her idea in the beginning. She had no idea the monster she was about to create!!!

We had a cockatiel for about 5 years when we got Angel in March of 2001. The cockatiel was a rehomed female who was over 5 years old when we got her. She passed away about 3 years ago. We've learned a lot in the last 5 years. Still need to learn a lot more but we've come along way. We added 4 birds in the past 10 months
