My ears are hallucinating!

Last night as I was sitting here at the computer (on BB of course) I heard a familiar sound coming from a very peculiar direction. I heard the very distinctive chirp of my Eastern Rosellas (who live in the living room all the time) coming from the bedroom, where all the hand tame parrots were bedded down for the night.

For a moment I had a heart-stopping spurt of terror - that somehow the Rosies had escaped. Then I realized our "new" used bird - Pico the porky lilac crown amazon of a previous post - had learned a new sound!
He can absolutely perfectly imitate the Rosies! I'm very impressed.

Also, this is the first new sound he's made while with us. It's been clear that everything else was stuff he's said a thousand times before. But this is a newly learned noise, which makes me really happy because he's older (at least 23 and maybe way more than that) so I was afraid he wouldnt be open to learning new things and might have a hard time adapting to a new home, after 22 years in the first one. But, he seems to be open to picking up new things, which I think is a good sign. It sure must confuse the Rosies, though...
