Heart /Head Conflict

Wednesday I was at a birdstore looking to upgrade Cheddy's cage and saw a GCC that's been there awhile. He was showing alot of inerest in me so I asked about him.Seems he was given to an 11 year old girl as a gift and returned for biting. The clerk opened his cage and snatched him out.She said "don't give him time to think or he'll bite!"I pretty much wanted to smack her but the bird did seem to want to bite her.She was antagonizing him the whole time and had him grasped in one hand, daring him to bite.As soon as she let go he came to me.I spent a half hour cuddling, doing step-up,scitching his neck, kissing his head etc..The two clerks couldn't believe he wasn't biting. Also he was talking almost the whole time!Something like "pretty bird good bird".Now, I wasn't planning on another bird, but as I was putting him back she says "50 bucks you can have him".I found Cheddy a new cage later that day, so the old cage is downstairs whispering..."Green Cheek....Green Cheek....Green Cheek. I'll go Saturday and see if he's still there .

Wow i'm shocked that you didn't bring him home with you that day. So sad that the poor bird has been there for so long and that people think he's mean and horrible. He obviously just needs someone to give him some time and show him kindness. $50 is a really good price, they obviously just want to get him out of the store being they say he bites. I don't normally suggest people buy from pet stores but this little guy really sounds as if he needs you and it sounds like he could easily find love and trust with you so I say go for it.

OMG, fifty bucks, I would have grabbed him in a minute. Sad, how this little guy was prejudged because he's labeled a biter. Obviously, he isn't. He definitely isn't going to get the attention he will need at the pet store if everyone is so afraid of him. No pressure from us on BB but GO GET 'EM!! I was told birds are like jello, there's always room for one more.

I'm waiting to see a new update this weekend that you have a new member to your flock. It sounds like he has won your heart...there obviously a reason for him biting since he has probably been teased. Can't wait to see what you decide. GCC are so adorable. Good luck

I'm thinking I would be down there when the store opens! He loves you, the price is right -- the Fates went to a lot of trouble to bring the two of you together. Waiting for pics of your new baby!

I didn't get him that day because I hadn't found the new cage for Cheddy so there was no place for him. After I left I went to Petco and found the 24 by 22 powder coated cage with playtop I was looking at was clearanced out at $99[down from $399].Then I had to rush to pick up my son from school.I think it is meant to happen so a couple more days won't hurt. This may sound stupid but I wanted to talk it over with the rest of the family[fids and humans] first.
