Talking Shopping frenzy!

So, yesterday I hit up a bunch of dollar stores, and boy did I get lucky!
I came out with....
a set of three rubber ducks
2 packages of whiffle balls- large and small
plastic mutlicolored baby links
a large jingly ball
nontoxic painted blocks
a large rubber dog toy
other misc. baby toys

and at target they had 100% pure rawhide chew SQUARES!
Its time to get a drilling!!!!!! I cant wait to start making some toys... and I have some wood shapes soaking in dye right now!
Yippee!

Way to go! Everytime I go shopping I find something I can use to create a bird toy! WalMart had some big rubber ducks for .99 a piece - I snagged them up!
Have fun making toys - I will be drilling today as well!

I went looking for wiffle balls a few months ago and nobody sold them until summer!! Where did you find them??

rawhide chews...like dog treats? I didn't know Ollie could have those- I'll have to get some of those too!

Those rawhide chews take Vitacritter dye really well, too. Drill a hole in the middle and use them to separate blocks. My cockatoo really likes them. He actually works at the center and makes the hole bigger and bigger until it falls off. I found a big bag of them at Big Lots yesterday.

WalMart has the whiffle balls, as does The Dollar Store! I bought two packs yesterday as they are a huge hit around here!
My flock don't care much for the rawhide - not sure why

We also hit the dollar store yesterday! We haven't been able to find wiffle balls or adding maching paper though! Maybe another store will have them.

If you can't find the whiffle balls or adding machine tape, just let me know!
We always have those items here!

Yeah I was wanting some adding machine tape too...I checked Walmart and Target for that and wiffle balls and couldn't find any. Walmart said they carry sporting equipment that goes with the seasons...apparently people can't play with wiffle balls during the winter... I'll check the Dollar store here in the next few days, and if I can't find any then I'll talk to you about shipping some for me, Laurie!

Maybe I'm a bit paranoid, but I often wonder about the quality of dyes etc used in the items sold at dollar stores. Most of it is made in China, and I have seen warnings related to the dyes for human kids. I get adding machine paper at Staples, the chlorine free kind. One other source of goodies is the Goodwill stores, I know the ones here, have 50% off every other Saturday. We get lots of Fisher/Price toys for a buck or two. Our birds love the ones that make noise when they push a button.
