Help! Keets died.

I have arecent interest in keets and I had my first two in July. The have been doing besutifully. I got one male and one female they clicked immediately always were tied at the hip. I recently moved and at the end of the first week the male died one morning . The female was very upset and would empty her food and lay in there so I thought she was morning him and then the very next morning she had died. Any thoughts on what might have happened? I love birds and they made me very happy. I would like to get more birds but I am fearful that I might have caused there death so I won't get another one.

Hi,

Well I guess I'll jump in here since it's been kinda slow and no one else has answered you yet... :)

But I'm afraid there is really no way I, or anyone here, could give you a reliable diagnosis regarding your birds. :(

It could have been linked to you moving, then again maybe not.
Did you move into a brand new house or apartment with new appliances or carpeting?
Did you move into an older home, with old wooden floors or carpeting that's seen it's better days?
Do you use teflon pots or pans?
Do you have gas heat or gas appliances? Could there be a leak?
How close were your birds kept to the kitchen?
How close to the garage or laundry room where heaters or furnaces might be leaking gas?

Were the cages in front of a window? In front of an air conditioning duct?
You made it sound like they died during the night. Did you cover their cages?

Without very detailed information, there's no way any of us could tell you WHY your birds died. Were you their only owner? Were they young or older birds?

What you should have done when the first bird died was take it to a vet for a necropsy so it might be determined if it was illness or an environmental thing.

I'm sorry you lost your birds... It's very sad when that happens.

Wish I could help...
