Arrow Might Take Sun Conure on trip to Ohio Driving there

Hi everyone,

I haven't posted in awhile been busy, but I'm back and I have a question. How hard would it be to take my Sun Conure "Blaze" on a /?Driving?/ trip to Ohio, I live in Florida around Daytona Beach, and it's a good 1000 miles to get there. I have another parrot a Congo African Grey "Buckeye", but he will be staying home with a family member. I'm taking Blaze with me because, the family member sleeps during the day, so I didn't want him to be upset with Blaze because he screams. So, If I take him with me I'm going to put his cage in the back, but he won't be in it. I'm going to buy him a carrier and put food, toys, and a water bottle in it for him. I will be staying at a family members house who doesn't have any pets, so he'll be Ok. Does anyone see any flaws in my plan, or can anyone offer any advice this is the first time I have ever taken a pet on a trip, and I need some help! Thank you So very much in advance,

Taylor, Blaze, and Buckeye

P.S I won't be driving so I can hold his carrier

If he has a really big cage you could look into a smaller cage that could also be a travel carrier, or get a travel carrier and a small cage...

Plan sounds great though you didn't mention where you'd be staying at since I assume that you guys will probably need to stop and rest for a while somewhere on the road. You can look at Best Western, or a similar place if you want to stop and take a break and rest in a bed for a while...

?

Most of the time we go early in the morning and drive straight through, but we might stop. Would Blaze's noise be a problem? He doesn't scream at night just in the morning, but when we get up there we will be staying at a relative's house, so that won't be a problem when we get up there. I just want him to be safe going up there and going back. His cage in medium sized so it will be ok, we'll be going by Mini-Van. I will also be purchasing a travel cage for the trip up there and the trip back.

Its just the idea though that if you do stop somewhere along the road to rest, that you'd want to find a place to be at. I've used Best Western before and had two birds with me. Some other people would recommend it as well..

An entire day trip though would be pretty long!

Would this be Ok?

I found this

http://www.petsmart.com/global/produ...Bird&N=2033663

would that be ok?

I have a cat carrier, but there has been cats in it, and it's in the attic. It in the pink insulation that makes you itchy that's what makes me worried that cats have been in it and it's in the insulation. I don't think that would be suitable even it I washed it well. What do you think? Should I use the carrier I have after I wash it well, or should I buy the one from the link? Thanks,

Taylor, Blaze, and Buckeye

The one from the link looks fine though you might want to figure out a way to put a perch inside if your sun prefers to sit on one vs standing.

I really couldn't say though about the one you currently have... can't really image it that well so not sure exactly what type of carrier your talkin about.
