Cage cleaning... There's gotta be another way.

Ok, maybe it's my back hurting, but I'm about tired of cleaning cages. Not that I mind, It's the methods that are used that get to me. I have a fairly set way of doing things - toys and mostly clean perches in the dish washer, cage trays and grates in the bathtub, and the rest of the cage gets hit with either a steam cleaner or a solution of vinegar and water. However - Is there a better way to clean the grates/trays? I don't like putting them in the tub because it just plain hurts. Does anyone know of a bird safe cleaner? I've looked at a few "natural" cleaners but wasn't sure of them. Or does anyone make their own? If it's a commercial brand, can you post a link? and if it's a home brew, can you let me know where you get any exotic ingredients?

Thanks!

I use a product called Poop Off on the grates and seedskirts.I no longer put cage parts in the bathtub because they scratched it up.I.ve thought about a steam cleaner. How well does that work for you?

we spray down the cages with a mixture of water and orange tko. we let it sit for a few seconds, and just wipe everything down with a sponge and then paper towels. its 100% bird safe and it smells SO good :) when you spray the poo with this stuff, you can see it just loosen up right away and when you wipe it down, you dont even have to scrub it :)

My favorite is Aviclean. I don't have to scrub nearly as much and I find it works better than the Poop Off.

cage cleaning

Power wash everything !
I wheel the cages (3) right out my family room door and turn the power washer on and it is done in about 5 minutes complete! No need for any chemicals or any other products. Just good ol H2O!!!

Water is a very good solvent and adding peroxide is what would seem like a good idea.

Gotta love the spray washer idea also. That should blast the poo off, if it does not lead to paint coming off and rust developing.
