Question Newbie question

Hi all, I have a young QP that I adore. I am new to the avian world and thinking about adding to my flock (ark) do birds get jealous? Would I be jeopardizing the bond I am building with my QP? I have had her 2 months.

My dogs are way jealous of the attention I give to the bird.

thanks for the advice

birds can be some of the most jealous creatures ever!! quakers are pretty adaptable, but its prob gonna take time for him to get used to the idea of a new bird getting some of your attention. you could try putting them in diff cages next to each other to help them get used to each other. and of course you're gonna have to be very careful when you take them out of the cage to play, your quaker might be very aggressive towards the new bird. they are pretty fearless too, ive seen quakers try to take down birds that were much larger than they were.

I have a QP and he was fine with me bringing home a Lovie. Actually he and the Lovie have become quite the pair!. They are best of friends after a bit of a rocky start. But my QP still gets the best of my attention. QPs will demand that I think. They just have that personality that makes them the class clown!

When I had my 1st Quaker I thought that it would be ok to bring more birds home. Boy was I ever wrong. She was very bonded to me and she became very very jealous. It was a big mistake on my part. It is funny that you mention your dogs being jealous. I have finally gotten a new Quaker 3 years after my first baby that I had for 10 years passed away. My Collie, who is also very bonded to me is very jealous. If I go by the cage he stands between me and the cage. I would have never thought it but it is true.
