Honestly, (or personally) I'd go with a larger cage... at least wider...

I usually tend to recommend flight cages... this particular cage is slightly smaller, space wise than the one you are looking at... however, it provides more room for the bird to move about in, and more places to put perches and toys.

It comes in 1 door (A&E + Centurion Aviaries & Cages) or 2 door (HQ Cages). There's also the "upgraded version" (Centurion Aviaries & Cages) or even double flights (all three cage companies, having two doors total).

I tend to recommend this cage a lot because it's practically the cheapest cage you can buy for it's size... However, certainly, if you'd prefer a dome-top or playtop cage, you'd need to look into a different cage...

As for bar spacing... well I've heard that green cheeks range in size... so a large GC' may do fine with 5/8's but a smaller one may do better with 1/2".

My Charlie is in a macaw cage that has 1" bar spacing... which is the maximum recommended for his size/type... however, he'd honestly do better in a cage that had 3/4" or less! (he likes to stick his beak through the car bars... which at one point in time, resulted in him having no feathers between his eyes and beak...)

I know its ebay but the seller is actually
Welcome to The Feather Farm

What do you think of the cage? I've seen a couple sites that say 1/2" is the biggest you can go for green cheeks while others say 5/8"
though not a bad cage, i have a few comments - it's very tall... you'll find that though there's benefits for it, a few inches in width are more beneficial than height. our guys have a cage that's 40" in height, and they don't use all of it (honestly, maybe only half to two thirds) - going just taller wouldn't increase their space much.

our cages have a bar spacing of 5/8" and the fids are doing fine with it.... not larger though!!!!

this is valo's cage, so you can get a feel for what i mean... he's rarely ever in the lower third

Monica, I like the cage you recommended me. However I would prefer something with a seed skirt and food cups. I will however take your advice and look for a wider cage. I havent looked at cages much so I think i've still got a lot of searching to do.

Valo, thank you for the visual...I will def be looking for a wider cage. Thank you!

have you thought about looking at poicephalus birds?? (meyers, senegals, red bellies) they have pretty much meet all the criteria that you want in a bird. i always suggest them to anyone who wants a smaller, quieter parrot that is not overly-needy, loves to be independant and entertain itself, and that is also very sweet, acrobatic, playful and has a ton of personality.

Hi
I know you seem to be inclined toward GCC but let me suggest a little parrotlet. I have had one and she is so attached to me, that I can do things around the house and not even realize she is there until I reach for her. She is very quiet and loves to clown around.
By the way, I did have a GCC which I traded for the parrotlet. He was as quiet as his environment allowed ( we have two other conures as well). He did learn to talk and was cuddly.
Hope this helps

Monica, that cage looks nice! What does it say 7/16 bar spacing and 1/2 bar spacing?
I cant seem to find any info on shipping on their website...do you happen to know what their policy is or did you just google them?

I'm not sure what BSP stands for but I assume it might have something to do with the size of the bars? Or something other... you could e-mail them...

as for shipping, bout all I can find is (from their about page)

Quote:
WARRANTEE STATEMENT: CENTURION CAGE CO. WILL REPLACE ANY BROKEN OR DEFECTIVE PART INCLUDING WHEELS, LOCKS, DISH HOLDERS, ETC. AT NO CHARGE FOR AS LONG AS THAT CAGE OR THE PARTS MANUFACTURE IS AVAILABLE. NO CHARGE MEANS SHIPPING ALSO.
I haven't just googled them... actually I found them when we were discussing split/double cages... this particular cage (and others like it) to be more exact...

Well my Conure is Loud as soon as it hears that im awake, calling me to ask me to take him or her out. My conure is needy and squaks all the time unless im in the room hanging out with him. I dont have a job. so my conure is very cuddly and loves to play and be scratched on the head. Conures hate feet, so watch out if they are on the ground.

Great research on choosing a bird. I do agree the best way is to have the bird pick you. You will be so glad you did!

The only personal note I'll say about the cage is that I would not worry about the seed catchers/skirts on the cage. I find them to be totally useless and more of a pain to clean than just sweeping up the seeds with a broom. I'm sure others will disagree but I'm sure those who have birds that are able to projectile spit (like mine - LOL) may agree with me. Trust me, the easier the cage is to clean, the better you will be "able" to clean it properly for your bird.
