Missing Her

Well, today is my first night away from my baby girl. She stayed in Manhattan and my boyfriend is taking care of her. I probably won't see her until late afternoon tomorrow! I'm just sick with worry-this is something I WON'T be repeating!

Logan called me a few minutes ago so I could talk to her. He said she just stared at the phone and didn't move a muscle- not that I was expecting her to upchuck on the phone or anything, but a few kisses would have been nice!

I just wanted to share my grief with somebody....my parents don't understand-they think it's so funny..."awww, Camille, are you gonna make it, poor baby??"

I'm not even excited about sleeping in for the first time in 7 months...I'd rather be up with her!

I totally understand. Hopefully the time goes by fast between now and tomorrow afternoon. Tomorrow I am going to go look at a kennel to board my dogs at while I go on vaction. I'm already stressing about leaving them.

Camille:

I understand completely. Until this past summer, I had been nowhere overnight away from my birds in 5 years. I was only gone 2 nights and 3 days, but I was a mess on day 3. It wasn't the big relief and rest I'd hoped for. Ultimately, we all need to get away. Its best for the birds and the owners. However, I think our seperation anxiety has to be worse than theirs.

We leave our bird with sitters about every other montn. Now we are to the point we don't call to check on them everyday. But it sure is nice to see and cuddle with them when we get back!

Camille,

I can totally relate. I'm going to be going to North Carolina this summer for a week (outter banks). And I'm really stressin' about leaving Spencer here alone. I might end up taking him. I haven't decided yet.

Camille, I'm so sorry to hear you are so missing your baby. I totally understand how you feel. I find myself cancelling or not looking forward to vacations because I don't wanna leave my baby.

I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one with separation anxiety. I will be staying overnight in NYC and I'm racking my brain as to how I can bring Pumpkin with me. I believe the hotel allows pets. I have someone to check in on him but I'm still nervous. I would love to take Pumpkin with me but I have to work in the morning and then I'm heading to the hotel. I would bring him to work with me but I work in a hospital and I don't think administration would appreciate me bring my pet to work. Hey, maybe, we should start "Bring Your Pet to Work Day."

Poor poor Ollie...she and Logan did NOT have a good morning. Apparently she only tolerates him when I am there. He would have been fine, he was just planning on making her breakfast, and sticking it in her cage real fast- then cleaning bowls while she was eating.

How could he have known her little head would get in the way of the door closing...

So she escaped and proceeded to fly to her numerous landing spots in the room, always just out of reach of Logan and my roommate. The only good thing, is that whenever she lands on one of those places, like the hanging light above the table, the lamp shade, the dry dish rack in the kitchen, she will step up to just about anybody. So Logan was finally able to pick her up, he pinned her toes, but she took of flying anyways. He says he was afraid of, and I quote "ripping her legs off...." so he let her go.

I had him set up with popsicles and nuts for bribery in case this exact thing should happen. But he said Ollie is too smart to fall for it, and he was pretty sure she was laughing at him.

So, eventually she flew and hit the wall (not very hard according to him), slid down, and he was able to snatch her up and stick her back in her cage.

She has eaten 3 bites of the biscuit she usually devours, and he said her pellets look untouched. So.........there goes the precious grams we have recently put on!!

I am so anxious to get home!!!!!

That "bring your pet to work day" sounds like a good idea, but then we need a "bring your pet to class day" too!

I would love the "bring a pet to work" day except everyone else seems to have cats and dogs! I love to travel and I do spend a lot of time worrying about my babies when I am away.

I will be away from my babies for 2 weeks at the end of the month.
It will be the first time we have been seperated. I am not looking forward to it.
I will read your post to my husband so he knows what he is in for!!!!
