Question Record Keeping

I want to know what type of record keeping that you do on your fids. Right now I just keep a three ring binder on my fids of doctors appointments, hatch date, test results and so on. I would like to find a computer program to do that for me, but I have yet to find one. Do any of you use a program on the computer for record keeping?

I also use a 3 ring binder. I have a cover on it with Ollie's pics to make it cute. I have charts that I printed off in word for keeping her daily weight (I usually only record 1 a week). I also keep a kind of diary about her progress and what she was/is eating at the moment, the toys she is playing with, notes about her personality. That is mainly because I wanted to see how she changed as she grew up. I have charts (blank as of yet) that will be for recording any words that she says. I also have a folder in there for expenses...kind of a tally of how poor she is making me!!

I have a notebook and folder that I keep vet records, etc. in.

I also keep information such as the food they are eating, their vet, and emergency contact info, just in case.

The only computer program I can think of off the top of my head would be Excel...Just create your own spreadsheet.

I have a program going in excel that I keep track of the fids weights... and the neat thing about that is, you can highlight all the numbers, push a few buttons and it turns into a graph for you.
I keep a journal on the fids- write down drs. appts. on the calender, stuff like that.
I also have a binder full of stuff I print off the net- info, recipes, articles..
So I have a couple different things going for the fids..

We keep "hard" or paper files on all of our fids....beleive me we use the whole filing cabinet with as many little ones as we have , but also keep an Excel Spreadsheet of everything. Excel is great because you can customize it for whatever your needs.

I have an Excel spreadsheet that tracks my bird's mutation, ages, leg ring #'s and in case of babies that were born here, their fledging day and parentage. I never thought of adding weigh ins to to spreadsheet, my birds are all in the 100-105 gram range except the two Princesses which are 115-120 depending on time of day.

I have a large 3 ring binder that I keep on Rico. Has his papers, hatch date, where purchased, etc. Has all his medical info from the vet. Has all vet info and contact info of who to call in case something happens to me. It also contains a bunch of quick reads on diseases and symptoms, so I can look up fast if need be. (maybe a little too cautious there)
I also keep record of his weight. I used to do this daily, now I have back off to once weekly like you Camille.
I also keep a nice leather bound journal on him. I write cute little stories in there about him, like when I first heard him talk, how he reacted to Corbin when I first brought him home, my first picture of him and Freddie sleeping in the chair, his first Christmas, etc. Ok, the more I talk the more I think I am a freak.
