Switching to pellets

Well I've begun the task of switching the birds over to pellets with a bit of seed. Tiki and Maya haven't touched theirs but Charm is eating away. Boy they sure are messier than seed. He seems to prefer the orange ones.

I tried weaning Ollie onto pellets, but she wouldn't eat them. So then I bought some seed mix. That got her off the formula. She gets no seed anymore, but she still doesn't eat her pellets like she should. She will eat a ton one day, and the next she won't even tough them. Her weight is stable though, if not slowly rising a little- so I'm not too concerned.

Just make sure you weigh them daily to make sure they are getting enough to eat! Good luck!

I find that I have to switch brands of pellets with my birds- especially my conure. He get's tired of the same kind after a week or two. I've been switching between four different kinds- two varieties of ZuPreem and two varieties of Harrison's. Right now my conure is really not to interested in the Harrisons' so I've been giving him more ZuPreem. He'll get tired of that soon and I'll start giving him more of the Harrison's.

Kasey was a pain to change over to pellets. I tried mixing a little seed in with it but all he would do is eat the seed! So finally i just gave him only seeds for a day! that night i realized all the red were gone so i just added more pellets! He is now on a pelleted diet. he isn't eating a lot of them, but he is getting his fruits and veggies also! But at least he isn't eating the seeds as a main diet!

I have been switching all of my birds to pellets. They still get a little seed and fresh veggies. I started them out with a 50/50 mix of Zupreem Fruit blend and Roudybush. Well Some of the birds eat the roudybush others eat the zupreem ? I really think the roudybush is a better pellet because it has no Dyes or sugar added But I'll let the babies decide if they eat the roudybush that is what I will add to there dish if they eat the zupreem that is what I will add. If you are going to feed Sun Conures Pellets Invest in one of those recycle feeders My Suns through more on the floor than they eat.
