Spencer's test results are in......

I am pleased to announce that I am the proud parront of a bouncing baby BOY!!!!! So, he will be known as Lord Spencer!!! I don't know why, but I am extremely happy about this. I guess it's because most of the pets I've had have been girls. So, it feels good to have a boy!!!

All of his other tests came back OK. All tests for any infectious diseases came back negative. His white blood count was a bit elevated, but the Doctor said that happens in younger birds. She said, had we not done the other test, she would have since the white blood count was high. But, since everything else came back negative, he should be fine.

Hey, Spencer--congrats on having your humans find out that you are the proper gender for your name :-).

I don't know why, but I was also extraordinarily pleased to find out that Bob was a boy, too. I just like boys--most of my dogs are boys, also. They seem more easygoing than the intense ladies in the house. Boys are fun, girls are intense, in my experience. Same with my kiddos--the sons are easygoing and fun, the daughter is intense and loving and extremely loyal to her parents--which makes her a joy to be around, but also means that she gets her feelings hurt more easily. The Boyos just do their thing and have a good time. They never forget their favorite parent (that would be me :-), but they aren't exactly "cling-ons". I wonder if those kind of generalities sork out the same no matter what the species?

Anyway, congrats on your test results!

congrats proud papa....

yes, the white blood cell count will be elevated because of stress. This often happens in young birds who are still handfeeding or have rencently been weaned.

Sydneys was WAY up there when he went, but that is a story for another time, and a story my vet still laughs at!!!
I shoulda known back then that Sydney was half nutz!

Thanks everyone!! I'm so happy. Now I guess I know (sort of) what it's like when you find out if the baby you're having is going to be a boy or a girl. It just adds a little something to the relationship.

I swear Spencer has known all along and was just waiting for me to figure it out. In his mumbles tonight, I swear I heard the word "boy" come out of his mouth. Like he was saying, "Spencer's a boy". He seemed very happy about the news, almost as happy as I am!!
