Talking What Type?

I am going to be getting another bird. Yay! But I have a small dilemma, I cant decide what Type. My choices are:

1. Superb Parrot
2. Regent Parrot
3. Indian Ringneck
4. Princess Parrot
Or a Conure If I can get my hands on one

All but the conure I can get from my work and handraise myself.(Much Fun!)

What Im looking for in a bird is Cuddles... Friendlyness, not inclined to bite, fast learner, friendly with other birds..

Out of the four listed, I'd have to say Princess Parrot... Indian ringnecks normally tend to be more hands off and stubborn but can still make great pets (some even cuddle) if raised right. I don't really know much about regents or superb but they are probably often referred to 'aviary birds', meaning that they normally tend to be better for viewing pleasures instead of pet potential... however, any bird that is handraised can still make a great pet!

I'd suggest a quaker for you too, however quakers and conures are not exaclty friendly with other birds, so here again I say Princess!

I work in a walk in aviary with All three of those parrot types, all handreared and even after 2 or 3 years of not being handled the Superbs and Regents still want to sit on your shoulder.. but the princesses don't want anything to do with you...

How friendly are Princesses when you handle them daily? Do they like to snuggle?

Track down Tiki..she's got a two Princess parrots she's absolutely in love with!

I know NOTHING about any of those birds however, sorry I can't be of more help!

Was it Majj that had an Ambonia King parrot? The parrot's name was JJ, and she LOVED him to death!!

Yes, Majj had a King Parrot... I believe she actually had two. However both passed on due to too much metal in the body (think it was zinc poisoning).... and unsure of how they got it in the first place. She really loved them, and she'd have one now if it werent for how frail they seem to be. Majj currently has a sun conure and a blue quaker, but I don't think she's been posting on this site anymore...

The info I know about Princess Parrots comes from Tiki, BasketBagley, and SmallOnion I believe... All have oen except for Tiki who has 2! Tiki and Basketbagley can really vouch for how sweet and cuddly they are as they got them as handraised babies (so to speak). Smallonions was more than likely parent raised and took quite a while to tame down but she truely loved her little princess!

I know what you mean by the superbs and regents! I've got a bourke that I've handled when she was only a chick, and she's still a sweet girl! I don't normally tend to handle her much but she's a sweety! My only other bird who remains sweet always is my cockatiel Casey, but I think she's not out of the norm!

Yes, both my Princesses were handreared. While not as cuddly as Chaska, Maui or Manu, they do allow cuddling on their own terms and will walk all over me. They are quiet, sweet-natured and friendly to other birds too. I have no experience with the others you mention so I can't compare, but you can't go wrong with a Princess!
