Soy Milk?

I was reading the article about African Greys in the new issue of bird talk magazine, and it said that African Greys are prone to Calcium definciencies. I've gone on this whole soy kick lately (after my doctor's advise), and even started drinking soy milk.

Since soy milk is lactose free and full of calcium and protien, would it be okay for the birds? I know that the flavored kinds (live vanilla) probably aren't b/c of the sweeteners, but what about the plain kind?? could I put a littl in w/cheerios or something?

I've heard, that generally speaking, soy products are not good for birds. Can't really say then that I'd recommend it, but then some foods can be fed in small moderation without any problems.

hey curious here, would artificial sweetners be really bad for birds? They are just made up of amino acids after all...

also heard the same thing about soy not being good somewhere...

My birds all eat soy milk and rice mild with cereal.
