Spectre

Sorry to not complete your question , $200.00 is about what I would want to spend to photo Puff. Do you think this is reasonable for a camera?

Also I would really love to take moving videos of him. Can that be incorporated w/ the same camera?

Well,
I'd aim for the Canon Powershot series. Decent quality, decent images, OK video. You probably will be looking at more the 300 dollar range once a memory card is factored in. Try the www.dpreview.com site and look for good sellers, you can find canon powershot under cameras or reviews.

Does that include sound or just pics? Can't thank you enough for the help.

That iis a model specific question. dpreview should have it in the review. In general sound is not a necessry inclusion, some models have it, some don't, all point and shoots will have lower sound quality than a second camcorder.

We use an Olympus Camedia d-580 zoom camera. It takes good photos (just need a good size memory card), though the video is not always the best...

On ebay, the camera goes for $50+, you can get rechargeable batteries for $12+, and a battery charger for $25+. Memory cards (or Picture Cards) for the camera go for $5 and up, depending if you get a card reader or not, as well as the size of the card itself. Our smallest is 16mg, while the largest is 256mb (and that holds A LOT of photos!). They do make 1GB cards too (you'd be taking photos for months!!!)

I'm not sure how much ours costed new, but it's a nice little camera that doesn't cost too much. Of course I'm sure that there are nicer ones out there, quite possibly like the ones Jared is speaking of. My sis and her hubby have one as well that is of better quality than ours, but I'm not sure how much it is price-wise...

The majority of the photos I have taken with this Olympus camera can be seen at http://photobucket.com/albums/0903/MonicaNFids/ under 'Photo Albums'. I've also got a photo album on ImageStation of a very few (about 50 or so out of around 600) photos taken in Hawaii, many of which turned out fabulous! If you have an imagestation account and would like to check them out, you can at http://www.imagestation.com/members/MonicaNFids

Just another camera to give thought to, that isn't too much!

I've got a Canon Powershot A520 and I absolutely LOVE this camera. It takes great pictures and the video quality is very good considering that it is not a camcorder. My hubby has a much more expensive Konica Minolta (A $800 setup) that takes the crappiest pics and video I've ever seen, so don't let price alone guide your choice. My Powershot was $199 and I found a 512 mb memory card for like $60 and it had a $10 rebate with it.
